Don't think too much!
The colors and pictures are often what gives you the impulse “this is what I like” - and that is usually a safe choice. What lies closest to your heart will help you make your home or business even more interesting since it expresses more of your personality or the values of your company.
Dare to change your patterns.
If you have a minimalistic interior, let the painting be the statement. Most commonly you then choose an abstract painting in neutral colors that becomes part of the interior. Do the opposite - choose a semi-abstract painting, for instance with large flowers or an abstract painting with lots of colors.
Is your home filled with homeliness and the walls filled with smaller paintings? Then gather your paintings and hang them like they were a single painting. This creates pure lines and becomes an interesting expression. Dare to mix - every art piece has its own history.
Hanging
A rule of thumb is that the center of the painting is placed roughly at an height of 140-145 centimeters above the floor, since this corresponds to an average eye level. Over a sofa you can benefit from a height of 150cm from the painting's center.
Large paintings, with sizes from 1 meter, will be best placed with about 30-40 cm of air around them.
If you have several smaller paintings in different sizes that you are going to use it is nice to group them and create a “new” large painting. That means that the outer edges are squared or rectangular and inside the imagined frame you can then mix. The best result is achieved if you have the same space between the paintings.

Hammer and nails
Or do you perhaps need a drilling machine, plug and screws? The most important thing for hanging paintings is to use the right method for the type of wall that you have.
If you have a harder concrete wall and smaller paintings, or lighter paintings - you can use picture hooks and a hammer. If you have larger and heavier paintings it is better to use a drilling machine. Then it is important that you use the right screw and plug when drilling, so you don't get ugly holes in the wall.
If your wall is made of more porous materials like wood, you can use a nail or wooden screws.
Tools
Today there are lots of tools to aid in placing paintings correctly. I use the tool here on mywalldecorator.com, where you can take a picture of your wall and your art works and then move them around as you wish. An easy way to see what it is going to look like!
